Last Night's Debate

A clear and convincing win for Barack Obama.

Hopefully, this will reverse the tide after the first one.

Paul Ryan is a loser.

On the Origins of Stupidity

I am totally amazed at how stupid a major political party's supporters can be.

It caters to the rednecks.

But how did it get to be that way?  The Republican Party of the early 20th century was progressive, an engine of good ideas.

The Republican Party of the 1860's ended slavery, and reconstructed the South.

Has that party lost its soul along the way?

On the Right Way to Protest

There seems to be a right way to protest injustices and inequities, and a wrong way.

Certainly, a movement to discourage the mistreatment of animals should be encouraged, as the cause is just.  People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is a case in point.  I'm trying to move my family more towards a vegetarian style, and making headway but suspect there's some slacking going on by less committed members, like my husband.

The poultry industry operated under horrific conditions, and a chicken never has a good day.  I won't ever eat chicken!

Still, I'm not sure that carrying a sign and protesting KFC while naked is effective.  It surely draws attention to the message, but it trivializes the message and prompts some of the retarded retrogrades to counterprotest, as seen below.

In my opinion, it is far more effective to use boycotting, and to write government agencies to encourage more regulations and restrictions on this shameful industry!  And no good liberal should ever eat fried chicken.

First Message from the North Woods

Here is the beginning of my blog experiment and I want to see where this goes, will I come up with things to say, will I continue to have interest?

Right now there's a significant election going on, a vote to determine the conscience and future of the nation.  There's nteworthy things happening in the art and music scene, and I want to be tuned in.

I hope whoever comes on this blog will like it, or at least be entertained.

My screen name is after a Sigrid Undset character.  I've read all her works; she is the most significant Norwegian author of the Twentieth Century.

God bless!
